Data Network Errors
Submitted by chris on September 13, 2006 - 5:47pm.
Most commonly if people are having problems with EQO Mobile it's because they are getting a "Data Network Error". The usual culprit here is that users don’t have a properly configured GPRS (or EDGE, 3G, EV/DO) data internet connection on their phone. Most people are confused by this as they can almost always access the internet, but they are likely doing so via a WAP connection. WAP allows you to use mobile browser, but it does not provide the TCP connection that EQO Mobile requires. Follow the links to automatically setup your Nokia phone or your Sony Ericsson Phone.. Opera has a great help section for setting up connection settings: This site has a great list of GPRS access point settings: As for the access point settings themselves, unfortunately every carrier has its own. The above website lists GPRS settings for various different countries and carriers, if you can not find your carrier on the list then check out your carrier’s website or search the web. You will definitely find the required access point (sometimes called APN) settings if you look hard enough. If you still can’t manage to get connected, then post in the forums or email me. I’ll help you out as soon as I can! Please feel free to post your country/carrier GPRS settings here for others and how to check/set GRPS settings on your specific phone type. Could someone please post some instructions for Tele2 in Sweden?Submitted by scarygary on October 8, 2006 - 10:55pm.
I've been trying to connect to EQO for a week now. Could someone please post some instructions for Tele2 in Sweden?Submitted by chris on October 10, 2006 - 8:59am.
To setup a Tele2 GPRS connection on your W800 you can use the first link to try and auto-setup your phone: This link shows the GPRS settings you need for Tele2 in Sweden: http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html The thing is, you must be enabled for GPRS or 3G by your carrier before you can use these settings. Please call them to make sure you are setup. On your phone you must go into your connection settings and create a Data Account with the Tele2 APN, user and password from the link above. You must then go into your Internet Profile and make sure your default profile is using the correct data account. Please let me know if you continue to have problems. Hi, RE: Data Network problemsSubmitted by chris on October 20, 2006 - 8:54am.
GPRS is General Packet Radio Service and is required on your phone to establish TCP type connections, the kind that EQO uses. WAP is Wireless Application Protocol and came about as a means of accessing the web on the mobile before GPRS came along. MMS is Multimedia Messaging Service and is used for sending MMS messages, basically text messages with pictures or other media. First off, I'd try using this site to get setup: 1_1_1_1&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10415... If that doesn't work then you'll need to go into "Settings"->"Connections" on your phone and create a new "Data Account". Call it LuxGSM GPRS or something and set APN to "web.pt.lu", user and password can be set to nothing. Then go into your "Internet Profiles" also under connection settings and set your default profile to use this data account. You should be good to go. If this doesn't work, call your carrier and get them to make sure you are enabled and properly setup. Chris data network systemSubmitted by yvecou3 on October 20, 2006 - 11:58am.

Hi I've been trying all day to get eqo to work on my BBerry 8100 Pearl. I have T-mobile and have my tcp settings set to wap.voicestream.com and i've tried leaving the username/password blank and using my mobile number/password. no matter what i do it gives me the data network error. RE: Data network errorsSubmitted by chris on October 25, 2006 - 3:00pm.
Please check out the post below and follow the T-Mobile links for more detail regarding possible solutions to your TCP/IP connection problems. net-msn-chat-web-telnet-tcpip-no-bes.html... Also, are you using a BES? Chris No BES. Just the regularSubmitted by msrjeepgc on October 25, 2006 - 11:08pm.
No BES. Just the regular blackberry unlimited data plan. I have no problem with other programs that access the internet including Opera and other browsers, etc. RE: No BES. Just the regularSubmitted by chris on October 26, 2006 - 9:37am.
I guarantee that those other programs are using HTTP connections, not TCP/IP like EQO. Did you check out the link I posted previously regarding TCP/IP settings? It should set you straight. Chris I already went through thoseSubmitted by msrjeepgc on October 26, 2006 - 2:45pm.
I already went through those FAQs and made the changes to my TCP/IP settings. It still does not work. You're saying I should call T-mobile and have this "feature" added? RE: I already went through thoseSubmitted by chris on October 26, 2006 - 4:19pm.
I don't know if you've checked out this post too: ory-t-mobile-ports-now-open-3rd-party-internet-apps.html... If you have and are sure you've done everything you can to setup your TCP/IP settings on your Blackberry then the best thing to do would be to call T-Mobile and make sure you are enabled. See if you can get them to confirm your settings while you are at it. Chris Hi ChrisSubmitted by deepweather on October 27, 2006 - 6:16am.
Hi, Respectfully, RE: Hi ChrisSubmitted by chris on October 27, 2006 - 10:19am.
Hello Saurabh, EQO requires TCP/IP connectivity, which goes beyond HTTP. You have to setup your TCP/IP settings for Bharti. Please reference this post: http://community.eqo.com/forum/blackberry_connection_problems If you still can't connect, contact Bharti directly and ask them to help you. It's also possible that your BES blocks TCP/IP connectivity on port 8585 or does not allow connectivity by third party applications. To solve this you'd have to talk to your BES Administrator. Okay, what are your GPRS APN and username set to now? How are you checking your settings? What I recommend doing is calling your carrier and asking them to help make sure you are enabled and properly setup for GPRS. Chris K800i Data Network ErrorsSubmitted by danoyt on November 15, 2006 - 9:44pm.
My setting on my phone is correct and working on other application but on EQO doesn't seems working? RE: K800i Data Network ErrorsSubmitted by chris on November 16, 2006 - 10:05am.
Depending on what other applications you are using, they are likely using HTTP transport whereas EQO Mobile used TCP transport, which requires a full data connection. Therefore, your settings may not be correct. Try the settings from Sony Ericsson for your carrier: 2&zone=ps&lm=ps2&supptemplate=ps1_1_1... If that site doesn't help, you need to setup a data account on your phone manually. You can call your carrier for help with this or I can help you get setup manually, just let me know. I'm living in new zealand using a Nokia N73 I have both Vodafone NZ Gateway and Vodafone Internet settings installed on my mobile The Vodafone Internet which is the GPRS setting has APN set at www.vodafone.net.nz I have the data network error unable to connect. I have been trying to figure it out for the past 7 days now.No luck Anyone can help me? Ps. With Vodafone NZ you dot not ned to setup a data account with them. You pay as you or alternatively pick a plan to save some $$ Thanks RE: Vodafone NZSubmitted by chris on November 17, 2006 - 10:02am.
With Nokia phones you should be prompted to select an access point when you start EQO Mobile. Some phones ask every time an app starts or just the first time. If you aren't prompted anymore, please download EQO Mobile and install EQO Mobile again. The next time you start EQO Mobile, make sure you choose the correct access point. Like Vodafone Internet or Vodafone GPRS, don't choose an access point that has web, mms, or wap in the name. If you still have trouble, please tell me the access points you have available to you. I’ve heard that the www.vodafone.net.nz access point is restricted, meaning that they may block EQO Mobile? Can you get onto their unrestricted access point? Chris There's two access point onSubmitted by 48105538 on November 17, 2006 - 9:42pm.
There's two access point on my mobile One is www.vodafone.net.nz the other is http://live.vodafone.com Both don't seem to work.Still says data error. Don't know what to do now It prompts me which connection I use.I've chosen two different one.VF gateway and VF internet.Doesn't work I setup a new access point with no settings whatever.Still doesnt work RE: There's two access point onSubmitted by chris on November 20, 2006 - 11:05am.
Okay, this site from Vodafone NZ will setup your phone properly for sure. http://wireless.vodafone.co.nz/m2minternet/ Do this setup and then start EQO Mobile, use the internet access point. If this doesn't work, you'll have to call Vodafone and find out why they won't let you connect. Chris lolSubmitted by 48105538 on November 20, 2006 - 4:04pm.
I did that 3 times.Still doesn't work NZ people are quite hopeless. When I asked them if they block any GPRS website etc they said errr I'm not sure Opera Mobile uses a WAP connection right? As I can use Opera on my mobile fine I hate vodafone NZ Thanks for your help chris RE: lolSubmitted by chris on November 20, 2006 - 4:56pm.
You are welcome for the help, but it seems like I'm not doing you any good. Opera does use WAP or HTTP, whereas EQO Mobile requires TCP and GPRS. I know people from Vodafone NZ have had similar problems and they've solve them via some settings on the mobile, that of which I don't recall. What I recommend doing is searching the web on the topic (I'll do the same) and/or hound Vodafone to speak with someone technical. Hi guys, need help. My operator is Maxis, Malaysia. Couldn't get my O2 XDA Stealth to connect. Tried connecting through Wifi and ActiveSync on my computer. Haven't tried EDGE or WAP. The only thing i could do was to enter my user name and password, then it will attempt to sign in. Each time after failing to connect, the iJava app would just hang and use up all my memory. Force quitting doesn't help. The Start button n the whole top bar would disappear. I've installed and removed the program numerous times. Each time producing the same result. All i could do was to do a soft reset. Help. Thanks. re: Connection problemsSubmitted by peter on January 10, 2007 - 10:22am.
Hi, Try connecting using EDGE. EQO needs a GPRS (or EDGE) connection to run. Let me know how that works for you. Peter Any idea how to connect a blackberry pearl?Submitted by joel.katz1 on January 27, 2007 - 9:53am.
I have installed all the software etc., but my mobile phone does not connect and on my laptop, at the eqo icon it says "EQO Mobile not signed it." My blackberry seems like it is trying to connect (it keeps saying "connecting . . "), but nothing happens. Any suggestions? re: Any idea how to connect a blackberry pearl?Submitted by peter on January 29, 2007 - 9:54am.
This type of problem usually indicates that you need to enter your carrier's APN in the TCP settings on your BlackBerry. On a Pearl, you can find the TCP settings under Options, Advanced Options, TCP. Your carrier's APN can most likely be found here: net-msn-chat-web-telnet-tcpip-no-bes.html... . If you can't find it there send me an e-mail peter@eqo.com. Peter |
