"Connecting....." and then "Offline"

Hi all,

I hope this is the right forum for this...if not, please let me know and I'll move the post to the appropriate one.

I was able to sugn-up and download and install the app very easily and quickly...btw, process was impressive.

I have it installed on my BB 8100 (pearl).

However, when the app comes up on my BB, it keeps attempting to connect and I see "Connecting...." scrolling across the bottom of the screen. Then after about 30 seconds or so, I see "Offline" displayed at the top of the screen.

My Carrier is T-Mobile. I have EDGE network and unlimited data plan. I added the TMO APN to my TCP settings and that fixed my data errors that I was getting initially....but now it just doesn't seem to connect to EQO services.

Could anyone help, please.....

Thanks in advance.

KT

re: "connecting..."

I have heard of this problem from a few T-Mobile BlackBerry users. I have still not discovered the root of this problem. What happens when you try to enter the TMO APN again and then soft reset your Blackberry? Also, what level internet plan do you have with T-Mobile?

I tried re-entering the TMO

I tried re-entering the TMO APN few times...and reset it after each one...but same thing happens.

I have an unlimited data plan -- which is unlimited internet and email (BIS & BES).

Just as an FYI, they told me that regardless of my "UNLIMITED" plan, they would still charge me for each instant message to/from my BB as a text message. That could add up. Although I love the service (especially because of skype) I don't think I'll be using it...unless you can get TMO to not charge me :)

Thanks.
KT

RE: I tried re-entering the TMO

Hello KT,

EQO Mobile does not work that way. T-Mobile is talking about their own IM service, they charge an SMS per message where we do not. The reason you can not connect is likely to do with your BES or your T-Mobile connection settings for TCP. Please check out this post to find the correct settings:

re Blackberry 8100 connection problem (or reconnection problem)

Hi KT,
I've had the same, or similar problem on my 8100 connected to Optus in Australia.
I installed eqo last night, had it working (connected),then went offline. When I tried to go back online it kept showing 'connecting' I gave up after about 5 mins of that.
Tonight I removed and reinstalled eqo, and had it fully operational again until I went offline.... with the same results.
I just tried turning the handset off.... with the same result... connecting...!
Now battery out and a full restart, still won't connect.

I hope someone out there has the solution.

re Blackberry 8100 connection problem (or reconnection problem)

Felixx,

We just released a new version today for Blackberry. Go to http://get.eqo.com and download that for starters--actually, before you do that, remove EQO from your phone.

Then, make sure that the permission settings for EQO are all set to allow. Then try to connect multiple times.

Let me know how it goes.

re Blackberry 8100 connection problem (or reconnection problem)

Hey Peter,
Well I thought it was still the same....deleted,re-installed,allowed access to all areas and connected as the first time, but after I went offline it wouldn't connect again.... tried turning the handset off and on but still the same.... removed the battery from the handset and guess what??... it has connected about 4 times so far with no problems at all! Thanks for your assistance....
