Blackberry Connection Problems
Submitted by chris on October 23, 2006 - 1:07pm.
If you are having troubles getting connected to the EQO service on your Blackberry, the likely cause is that you do not have a TCP/IP connection. This site below has connection details for all of the major Blackberry carriers and should straighten you out: Blackberry Forums Connection Help Blackberry Pinstack Forums Connection Help If you need instructions on how to change your TCP settings, check out this forum post. Once you have saved new TCP or APN information, you should reboot your Blackberry by removing and reinserting the battery. Chris Trackback URL for this post:http://community.eqo.com./trackback/623
Bell Mobility - no TCP / APN on 4.0 OS BB 7250Submitted by liam101 on November 21, 2006 - 7:31am.
Hi Chris... Has anybody figured a work around for the Bell Mobility lack of TCP / APN configuration on the 4.0 OS on my BB 7250? Programs that require this just won't work (such as MINO etc. WAP Secure browser configuration shows the correct IP and ports, however you cannot specify the APN... Jajah appears to work but I believe that uses different technology to access their servers however I have been unable to successfully complete a jajah call while I am on my mobile... The server appears to make the call to my contact, but the BB does not ring back and a message goes into my mailbox as my line is "busy". So, I am hoping to find an alternative that works as I will be travelling out of Canada for the next 6 to 9 months. Bell Blackberry's don't just lack the ability to configure a TCP APN, they lack the entire TCP/IP protocol stack. Good old Bell Canada. There isn't anything you can do to use EQO Mobile at the moment. Down the road we'll be looking at some alternate transport types, but for now you are out of luck and I apologize. Chris Phone number requirementSubmitted by jmf on December 3, 2006 - 8:14pm.
I am reluctant to share my phone number as I have a data only service on my blackberry, so if I any phone services are used (sms, voicemail, etc.) it costs $.40. jmf RE: Phone number requirementSubmitted by chris on December 4, 2006 - 10:06am.
We will send you one text message containing the download link to EQO Mobile. Beyond this one message, your mobile number is only used for calling purposes. If you only want to use IM Chat, then your mobile number will never come into play. Anyway, now you know what the deal is, it's up to you if you'd like to complete registration or not. Chris This is what I thought. I'mSubmitted by jmf on December 4, 2006 - 8:13pm.
This is what I thought. I'm trying to make voip calls on my mobile data only phone without creating charges for my cell number. Oh well. jmf RE: This is what I thought. I'mSubmitted by chris on December 5, 2006 - 8:47am.
Sorry we can't help you out, good luck with your search. Chris EQO on Orange BlackBerry 8700f with BlackBerry Enterprise ServerSubmitted by mattvick on February 28, 2007 - 8:10am.
I have a UK Orange BlackBerry 8700f connected to BlackBerry Enterprise Server. I have successfully installed EQO but it cannot connect and gives the following error: "Data network error. Refer to FAQ at www.eqo.com for suggested solutions or...". Under Options -> Advanced Options -> TCP I have set APN to orangeinternet, leaving the username and password both blank, as described here: http://www.pinstack.com/carrier_settings_apn_gateway.html but this has not fixed the issue. The strange thing is I also have Google Talk installed on the BlackBerry and it works fine. However the installed Gmail application shows the following error: "This program requires a working data connection. Please check your signal strength". The BlackBerry has two Web browsers available: 1) BlackBerry Browser (This doesn't work as it connects via the BES, which has no Internet connection) 2) Orange World (This works allowing me to browse the Internet) How do I get the BlackBerry to use the working Orange internet connection for all third part network aware applications including EQO? Any help would be most appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Matthew re: EQO on Orange BlackBerry UKSubmitted by peter on February 28, 2007 - 9:45am.
Hi Matthew, Did you do a soft reset (take out the battery and then put it back in) after you saved your TCP settings? I would try this first. Secondly, I noticed on the Orange UK Web site that you may need to request the Service Books for your BlackBerry from Orange to enable third party applications access to the Internet: e&cid=1096359194359&itemid=1044133655816&mid=1147441289806&qid=36&t=OUKP-FAQs&tab=1&topic=1044128791239... Check out that link and let me know how you get on. Peter error message BB 8100Submitted by charlykhan on October 8, 2008 - 8:19am.
