Black Berry Pearl 8130
Submitted by dave_so on June 9, 2008 - 7:00am.
So, I have downloaded and successfully installed the eqo software application, and it looks good, more user friendly than the previous app I had installed. My only problem is it won't actually sign in on any of my IM accounts... I just get the "connecting" message.. and it's now been saying that for about 10 minutes (at least). Is there something I've got to change in my blackberry in order for this to work... I saw that there was an older post regarding changing some settings and there was a link to the blackberry website with settings for individual carriers, but I didn't see anything for Telus (my carrier). Anyone got any suggestions or help for me? =D Thanks in advance! re: Blackberry Pearl 8130Submitted by peter on June 9, 2008 - 3:11pm.
Hi, You are correct about Telus. As a CDMA carrier, they do not have TCP settings that you can configure. However, looking at your account, it appears that you have now successfully logged on to some accounts. Please let me know if you need more help! Peter See, this is the thing. See, this is the thing. I log onto eqo no problem, my phone book shows up... But when I scroll over to my IM window all I see for my msn, yahoo, and gtalk is "connecting", and it will say that until I eventually shut it down... I let it go like that for over 10 minutes.. My contact lists never show up. re: See, this is the thingSubmitted by peter on June 10, 2008 - 8:40am.
I would try to isolate the problem. Start by removing all of your IM accounts from EQO. Then, add your msn account and try to log in with just that one. See if you can get online with only one of your accounts. Peter MSNSubmitted by dave_so on June 11, 2008 - 5:08am.
Has not worked.. I deleted all of them, and then added msn back into the application... And so far I just still see "(connecting)" next to my msn icon... I have tried signing in with "dave_so" and "dave_so@hotmail.com" but neither gets a different result.. Maybe I'm just destined to not have msn on my blackberry, and I'll have to force everyone I know to use either yahoo or gmail (both come with the blackberry already). Let me know if you have any further suggestions. =) Messages I get when I try to log inSubmitted by dave_so on June 11, 2008 - 7:01am.
So... I just let the connecting thing go for as long as it took and this is what pops up: "Unable to sign in dave_so@hotmail.com on MSN. Error message: Connection error from notification server: Reading Error" I have also gotten an error code 1. =( re: Messages I get when I try to log inSubmitted by peter on June 11, 2008 - 12:46pm.
I have our IM specialist looking into this error for you. Approximately how many contacts do you have for this IM account? Peter re: Messages I get when I try to log inSubmitted by dave_so on June 12, 2008 - 4:49am.
I would say probably about 30? Should I have to re-add them on my blackberry? Once yesterday it showed me as signed in (I think), but none of my contacts were showing up, so I added one (my girlfriend), but she said she never received an email for a friend request, and didn't see me online (we already have eachother as contacts, but I thought maybe I had to add her since it's on a new device with a new app). Thanks for all the help... Despite the problems I'm having getting this app up and running, the customer service has been both prompt and polite. re: Messages I get when I try to log inSubmitted by peter on June 12, 2008 - 9:04am.
Apparently we have located the bug that was causing the error message you were getting with MSN. This has been fixed and should be released sometime next week. Did you try logging in your other IM accounts one at a time too? Did either of them work on EQO? Peter re: Messages I get when I try to log inSubmitted by dave_so on June 12, 2008 - 10:45am.
Actually... I was getting a password error message on my yahoo, but I'm not too concerned about that one because the pearl comes with it's own yahoo software app, same as gmail... But prior to trying JUST msn on it's own, I wasn't getting any of my contacts showing up at all for any of my IM programs. If I can get msn, I'll be happy as a pig in you know what, and not having the other two won't bother me much... If I can get msn, then I'll explore the other two and let you know what happens. Any new developments?Submitted by dave_so on June 27, 2008 - 7:59am.
Any idea if it's working yet (or should be?)? Should I try redownloading software and reinstalling on my device? I tried just logging in a couple days ago, was still getting the same message again. =( re: Any new developmentsSubmitted by peter on June 27, 2008 - 9:35am.
We have made some fixes. Please uninstall EQO and reinstall from http://get.eqo.com (should be version 1.6.1). Let me know if that is any better. Peter re: Any new developmentsSubmitted by dave_so on June 30, 2008 - 12:34pm.
I have re-installed twice now.. The first time I got the error message from msn.com again, now it's gone back to just saying "connecting" for the last 10 minutes now. =( re: Any new developmentsSubmitted by peter on June 30, 2008 - 2:19pm.
Dave, Any luck this afternoon? Your account logs appear to show 2 "successful" IM log in attempts after your forum post. Peter re: Any new developmentsSubmitted by dave_so on July 2, 2008 - 5:36am.
Hi Peter, Nope.... No luck... I just tried again now, and it has shown "connecting" for the last several minutes, and none of my contact list has shown up as yet. re: Any new developmentsSubmitted by peter on July 2, 2008 - 5:30pm.
Thanks for your patience Dave. I apologize for the lengthy delay on this problem. I'll see if there is any other indication in the log of what may be causing these sign in failures. Peter re: Any new developmentsSubmitted by dave_so on July 8, 2008 - 5:03am.
Thanks Peter, I usually check in at least once a day to see if you've updated the thread with any tips or suggestions to try logging on. re: Any new developmentsSubmitted by peter on July 9, 2008 - 2:10pm.
Dave, Can you try to force your EQO application to use an HTTP connection? Start EQO, go to Options, Settings, then uncheck the box that says "use TCP connection". Then select Options, Exit. Then Start EQO again. then go into the settings and make sure the TCP box is still unchecked, then try to log on to your IM account. This is just a hunch. We have seen some Rogers BlackBerrys have difficulty with IM connection in TCP mode recently (though they work fine in HTTP mode)--not sure if this has to do with the impending release of the iPhone in Canada and Rogers metering of data usage.
