Orange to adopt OpenID, really? Cool

Techcrunch reports that France Telecom's Orange is going to adopt OpenID, which may not seem like momentous news in the mobile space, but rest assured it is. Think about it, an (evil) carrier has adopted an open, decentralized authentication mechanism. They've given up control and ownership of the "identity" of their subscribers in some small way, which, when it comes to Orange's endorsement, is a major victory for OpenID and the Identity 2.0 movement. I'm now wondering two things. First, how is Orange really going to use OpenID? Second, will other carriers follow suite in adopting Open ID ?
